At the heart of Cape Reed International's creations lies our primary roofing material – cape reed (thamnochortus insignis). This unique thatching material thrives solely on the southern tip of the African continent, making it an exclusive and sought-after resource.
Our structures are more than just aesthetically pleasing; they are built to withstand the test of time. All structural timber used in our creations is sourced from sustainable forests. This conscientious approach ensures not only the durability of the wooden structures but also the preservation of the very resources we depend on.

Fire-Resistant Innovation
Safety is paramount in every Cape Reed International project. Our innovative fire-retardant thatching method incorporates a fire-resistant cloth (Firebloc) into the thatch during construction. This remarkable material can withstand temperatures of up to 500°C, providing peace of mind to inhabitants.
Moreover, the application of Cape Reed Fireshield enhances fire resistance. This chemical application, meeting international health and safety standards, is expertly sprayed onto both exterior and interior surfaces.
